After the launch of the Google Chrome Extension in beta version, it might provide a stiff fight to the most comprehensive web browser Firefox along with it’s third part Add-ons. Recently, wrote about the must have 25 extensions on Chrome and have already written many times about the Must Have Firefox Add-ons, just thought of Memory Usage Comparison between Chrome loaded with Extensions & Firefox with Add-ons.

Before I show you the result, let me clarify the background – Firefox was running with nearly 15 Add-ons installed & enabled while Google Chrome with 9 Extensions. The Result showed me that Each extension installed & active would be a another process in the Task Manager and in turn consume much much more memory then single process of the Firefox.  After searching on the Google, found that I was not only the one who have noticed this Memory Usage of the Google Chrome with Extension in the Developer Channel.

Each time you open a new tab in Chromium, you’ll likely get a new renderer process.  With typical browsing, it is common to see 5-7 chrome.exe processes active.  Further, if the pages you have open contain plugins, those plugins will also execute within independent processes.  All of Chromium’s processes, whether it is a browser process, a renderer process, or a plugin process, will show under the Task Manager as “chrome.exe” – As per the Chromium Memory Usage Details on the Developer Chrome Blog.

I Suppose, You yourself can judge from the Image below, Which of the Web browser Chrome or Firefox along with the Extensions & Add-ons consume more physical memory & CPU usage.

If you are a Chrome Fan, you must read the justification given by the Google Chrome Developer Blog on the Chrome Memory Usage Here, which takes about How to measure the Google Chrome Memory Usage & Steps to compare the Memory Usage between two application ? But My only Question is why should I, when I can see the memory consumption via Task Manager and which shows Chrome uses more memory then Firefox.

If Yes then do tell us what do you feel about the Memory consumption of the Chrome and If No is the answer, my suggestion would be why not give it a try, just do what you do normally on the Google Developer Channel build with Extension and Open Task Manager to view the Memory.,
